Built on an in-town infill site, Dupont Commons is a mix of single family and attached town homes. Site Solutions designed and documented the complete landscape architectural scope, including pools, fountains, ponds, grading, hardscape, planting and irrigation, site lighting and entry signage design. The plan combined elements of 19th century Olmstedian communities overlaid with more formal new urbanist principles. Quickly recognizing the opportunities posed by the site’s sloping grades, Site Solutions revised the plan in favor of exploiting the picturesque open space spine that tied together both the single family and town home components. A clubhouse and pool gave a more gracious entry to the main amenity area, which empties into a grand elliptical glade ideal for play and picnics. This is followed by a more intimate cross axial glen, envisioned as a deeply wooded series of ponds, rock outcrops and waterfalls that take advantage of the grade fall. As the open space tapers, a gently curving ramble connects the main community area to the Townhouse Commons, which Site Solutions proposed as an alternative open space and promenade to the roundabout and plaza space shown on the original master plan.
